Trip to Holland for Feng Zhongyun Exhibition

Trip to Holland June 06-11, 2011

Bright Dreams Art Exhibition – Paintings by Feng Zhongyun

Art is boundless…

As a first Chinese contemporary painter, Feng Zhongyun held his painting exhibition in the Hague, this historical artistic town in Holland, from June 09 to August 20th, 2011.

The opening of this exhibition was conducted by Paul Rosenmoller, the famous Dutch TV host, who interviewed the artist in his program before 2008 Beijing Olympic. During the opening speech, Paul tried to tell the guest that the he got different impressions by the people he interviewed, and he said that they are open, and positive, which were not like what he was told from the media before the trip. He clearly remembered the details when he was in Beijing for his program, how the conversation with Ms. Catherine Cheng, the gallery manager of 798, was exactly; the propaganda art, the contemporary art and the history of 798 etc. He also mentioned about the courage of talking about the very sensitive issue of 1989 student movement when he interviewed Feng as Feng was one of the students’ activists.

During the opening, guests really appreciate Feng’s work as well as other artists’, and one of the comments by guest describing Feng’s contemporary ink painting is an inherit of traditional Chinese painting, but brings it to the future with his contemporary and modern expression.

June 8th, 2011, the public transportation was on strike and we waited in the bus station for a long long time but nobody came and no bus passed. Then we were told about the strike. We had to walk on foot back to friend’s gallery, on the way we passed a lake and happened to meet a white swam family get-together there. What a harmonious and beautiful scene!

Then we visited Amsterdam, Van Gogh museum where once again I had my tears when I saw the past three paintings of Van Gogh. Here is the street tour near the palace.
